Our Story
The Director of Excelgrow CC, Kobie Vlok, is the original author of the “Personal Leadership Excellence programme”. We are thankful to Kobie who wrote this excellent programme originally and gave his permission for it to be revised and expanded into different formats and translated into other languages, thus allowing more people to benefit from the content.
A group of youth workers gave their time and skills to develop the programme into a teenage friendly format. For the benefit of the teenagers this programme was re-named BrightStar Life Skills Programme. This newer version was then adapted for adults as BrightStar Life Skills Programme 20+.
BrightStar Life Skills was registered as a Closed Corporation with Amanda Swanepoel and Rayline Coetzee as Co-CEOs.
BrightStar partnered with Compass Academy of Learning, based in Mokopane, Limpopo, as a service provider for SETA accreditation. BrightStar Lifestyle Life programme is accredited with the ETDP SETA for 12 credits, NQF level 4, US 242824.
The Institute for Innovation, Integration & Impact (LEMON Leadership, Brett Johnson) partnered with BrightStar and ‘A Taste of LEMON’ was incorporated as one of the 15 themes in the programme.
Various individuals and teams committed their time, knowledge and experience to develop the BrightStar Programme for Business, Teens and Community, as well as compiling high standard manuals for facilitators. We are forever grateful for continuous contributions by facilitators that add value to the workbooks, PowerPoints presentations and manuals.
A team of facilitators availed themselves to re-develop an Africa Skills product: Debt Savvy.
The BrightStar workbooks, PowerPoints and manuals for facilitators were revised.
First Light on BrightStar was launched as a blessing product for larger groups and communities.
Ilse Friis (now Beukes) introduced a new product and with the help of a dedicated team the BrightStar Mentor programme was developed. Accredited with the EDTP SETA for 3 credits, NQF level 4, US 114215.
The company name BrightStar Life Skills was renamed to BrightStar LifeStyle, introducing programme participants to a new lifestyle.
BrightStar Mentor 101 was developed in partnership with Grovation and The Global Leadership South Africa project: GLS363.
BrightStar Wellness was launched. BrightStar Finance was launched. BrightStar Coach was launched in collaboration with Annamarie Maritz from In Rhythm and Chris de Beer from Corability Coaching.
BrightStar Legacy Dad, developed in collaboration with The World Needs a Father, was launched.
BrightStar Thrive was launched. BrightStar Entrepreneur 101 was launched.
The worldwide pandemic, Covid-19, introduced huge challenges to organisations. BrightStar LifeStyle was able to use the challenge as a growth opportunity. The already existing programmes and workshops were adapted to be facilitated online and new products were developed and launched: BrightStar Video 101. BrightStar Virtual. Bright Being. BrightStar Executive Accelerate. BrightStar Self-care (Burnout, Prevention and Restoration). BrightStar Retirement.
A new chapter in the story was written when Chris De Beer joined the company as co-owner and business coach for the BrightStar LifeStyle executive team.
BrightStar Mentor is strengthened by Living Life in Full Colour collaborating with us.
Our passion is to build teams to function on a more productive, joyful level. For that to realise we need individuals who understand how to manage themselves.
